Welcome to another edition of #PeopleofSarvika. Through this medium, we have one-on-one conversations with Sarvikans and get to know them beyond their work in the office. This time, we are in conversation with Harish, Program Manager for one of our oldest clients, based out of our Jaipur Office. A passionate lover of music and the human behind bridging the gap between our client of four years (and continuing) and team. Harish is a Commerce & Information Systems graduate, holds a CCNA certification, and has led CMMI Level-3 implementations.

Q1. How has been the journey to your current role?

Currently, I am working as a Program Manager at Sarvika Technologies and have spent a major proportion of my career handling technology aspects in various companies. From working as an IT Network Specialist to a Business Analyst to currently working as a Program Manager, the journey has always been surrounded by delivering solutions as per cutting-edge technologies.

Q2. What made you decide to be a part of the IT setup?

I did my Bachelors in Commerce, where most of my class fellows were focused on making a career in accountancy or were busy preparing for an MBA that was quite-a-hype those days. Unlike all of them, I dreamed of working in a Tech setup right from my school days as I was fascinated towards utilizing technology in making life easier. During my bachelor’s, I got into numerous training and certified programs that made me more connected to the tech industry. Even now, my daily routine has a place for grabbing new info regarding innovations happening in IT, making my involvement with the industry even stronger.

Q3. Describe your role at SarvikaTechnologies

At Sarvika Technologies, I am working as a program manager for the last three and half years and leading a team that designs software solutions for the healthcare domain. Being a bridge between the client and the team, it falls on my shoulders to get everything done as per the requirements set by the clients. Over the years, working for different setups, I have realized the only way to solve any problem is to view it holistically while considering the end-user perspective. Understanding the pain point of customers and their expectations allows you to create software solutions that are easy to use, rich in functionality, and drive ROI for the client.

Q4. Can you tell me what your days look like at the office?

I am mostly involved in managing and reviewing the work of my team as per the objectives mentioned by clients. I start my day by checking my emails and making a checklist of tasks that need to be completed as per the priority level. Being the end recipient of the work before it reaches clients, I make sure everything is perfect and parallel to the tone of quality we have set as per the company’s perspective. Identifying the problem areas by diving deeper into making strategies that revolve around taking new initiatives resonates with my belief and is one of my core zones in the organization.

Q5. What drives you every day to be supercharged at work?

I was dead set on becoming an IT professional and loved every bit of its dynamic nature. In all these years of working in different setups, the only thing remaining constant is the willingness to upgrade as per the nature of the industry. I believe in reinventing myself as per the new trends and technological advancements as the world today is dependent on technology and its reliance which is only going upward year after year.

Q6. Leaving your work responsibilities, what else do you like doing in your spare time or as a hobby?

Do you mean apart from being a Calvin & Hobbes fanatic and a DJ who has played tracks in numerous social events? Quite hard to believe? But, it’s the truth. I was in my 5th grade when I started listening to music through the Vinyls,Cassettes and finally CDs brought by my elder cousin. Since then, I have religiously collected the best music tracks and I sometimes rewind them on my weekends or during a long drive. I also have a large collection of Calvin and Hobbes comics which is reserved for my day-offs.
A lot of people asked me why I didn’t pursue a career as a professional DJ when I have been drawn to music so much. Well, I believe something so close to your heart is just meant to satisfy your soul, and music has been that. I have never thought of making a career in the stream purely meant for my inner zen and to make me feel so content. What else do you need?

Q7.How has been your journey with Sarvika Technologies? Describe in brief.

With Sarvika, I got to know a close-knit community of individuals who believed in solving IT issues by utilizing an entrepreneurial mindset. The freedom to put up ideas by giving everyone an open playground is something that I loved the most in the organization. Three and half years ago, I was the 25th member of the organization when I joined, and today we are four times bigger. The reason – Collaborative and helping nature of Sarvikans passed on to every new member, and the cycle goes on.

Q8.Any advice that you would like to share with budding working professionals?

A lot of people that I have observed come with the mentality of simply focusing on their part of the work and not seeing the problem as a whole or as per the user’s perspective. My years of experience say that it is always better to analyze an issue in terms of the end user perspective, and results will automatically come in your favor. Surrounding yourself with people from different perspectives and thoughts will give a holistic view of any problem and provide different ways to solve it.
