Today, we sat down with Rinku Sharma, Technical lead of our QA team, who heads one of the biggest teams at Sarvika and is known as the master problem solver while addressing client concerns with complete patience. She is a mother of a baby daughter, a daughter-in-law to a large Indian family and a QA by her passion.

Let’s dive deeper into his journey in conversation with our marketing team.

• Q1. Could you share a bit about yourself?

I’ve been working in the tech industry for over 15 years, and my fascination with technology remains as strong as when I started. I’ve held various roles in Quality Assurance (QA) in different organisations throughout my career. From an early age, I was drawn to technology since computer science was one of my favorite subjects in school.

Although I come from a family where most people don’t emphasize studying beyond school and start earning as early as possible, I was determined to complete my education and build a career in the IT industry. Thankfully, my parents have been a great source of support throughout my life in different phases and only because of them, I was able to complete my education and then start my professional career.

• Q2. Can you describe your role?

I lead a team of 9 individuals in Quality Analysis. As their leader, I stay in close contact with my team members, helping them with their tasks and addressing their questions during the workday. I wanted to do a transition to project management after due learning. Recently, the company has also assigned me another job responsibility of a Project Manager for eCommfy, our in-house eCommerce platform’s live store deliveries.

This role allows me to challenge myself by overseeing projects from both technical and non-technical perspectives. I manage projects, client deliverables, feature additions, and development while continuously learning from the talented people around me.

• Q3. How is your experience with Sarvika Tech so far?

My journey at Sarvika has been incredibly smooth. It’s been a fulfilling experience that introduced me to various aspects of technology, especially in QA and leadership. I joined as a team lead three years ago with extensive QA experience but limited leadership exposure.

I was eager to take on a management role to guide and nurture my team members. Initially, the leadership transition was a bit of a roller coaster ride, but with time and learning opportunities, things have become positive and beautiful at Sarvika Tech.

Sarvika Tech provided me with the opportunity to work in eCommerce, a field I hadn’t explored previously and a new job role to move to i.e. project management which not everyone gets to do easily. My prior work focused on IoT, insurance, and energy, so the shift to B2B/B2C eCommerce was a significant learning experience.

• 4. What does it feel like to be in a leadership position at Sarvika Tech?

Stepping into a leadership role at Sarvika Tech was like embarking on an exciting adventure, filled with questions and a touch of uncertainty. I remember the day I started leading a team – I was eager, but I also had my concerns. How would my team take me as their manager? How could I ensure we stayed productive? And how will I navigate through the myriad of challenges that leadership brings?

It didn’t take long for me to realize that being a team lead means shifting your mindset from ‘me’ to ‘we’ in every aspect. Managing people is like solving a complex puzzle. Each team member brings a unique set of skills, aspirations, and personalities to the table. To work at their optimum potential, I had to become not just a leader, but a mentor, a negotiator and a support system all rolled into one.

I’m grateful for the guidance I’ve received along the way, especially from experienced leaders like Jyotsana and Sourabh. Their insights have taught me that great leadership is a combination of many facets. Fast forward to today, three years later, I lead a team of more than nine (9), one of the largest at Sarvika Tech.

• Q5. How would you like to describe the work culture at Sarvika Tech?

Working at Sarvika Tech is like being part of an ever-evolving ecosystem. It’s a dynamic blend of seasoned professionals and a youthful, vibrant workforce, all working together in perfect harmony. We have the privilege of engaging with clients from a wide array of industries, which offers us unique opportunities to learn from diverse perspectives.

But it’s not just about work. I find myself actively participating in cultural events and fun activities on the premises, which serve as a fantastic way to connect with the incredible people who make up the Sarvika Tech family. It’s an environment that encourages personal growth, teamwork, and a healthy dose of fun.

• Q6. What do you think the future holds for the QA industry?

The QA industry has undergone significant changes due to the rapid advancement of technology. In my view, all types of testing, from automation to security to performance, remain crucial in any project. Manual testing still has a place, as our primary goal in Quality Analysis is to address user issues, and human judgment is irreplaceable.

As companies over the period of time are expanding and becoming more complex, their need for QA increases. The future of QA lies in using automation and machine learning at its best potential.

• Q7. What is your life after you log out, and how do you maintain a work-life balance?

As soon as I get home from the office and on weekends, I spend every minute with my family. Whether it’s playing indoor games with them or helping my daughter with her academics, I’m always involved at home.

I’m also a fan of suspense thriller movies, and I enjoy watching thrilling TV series like Money Heist, Prison Break, and Arya (Indian crime-thriller drama), which are some of my favourites.

My experience as a working professional and a mother of one together in one person has taught me that finding balance is all about having a cooperative support system and a flexible work environment. It allows you to manage your work priorities while spending time with your family and with Sarvika Tech I am able to achieve that.
